Dance Around the World returns to Cecil Sharp House

For a taste of the 2010 event click here. The general format this year will be similar but at many of the groups will be different.

For the 2013 event, expect a non-stop programme of performances in the spacious hall upstairs and 1-hour taster workshops in the two halls downstairs and in the dance marquee in the garden.  There's a choice of social dances on both evenings too. Watch this space for programme details as they develop. Find us on Facebook too.

Workshops, Performances And Social Dances

As usual Dance Around The World will once again fill Cecil Sharp House with a non-stop programme of performances, workshops and social dances from 10.00am to 11.00pm on both days. There will be over fifty performing groups representing cultures from regions as diverse as Algeria, South-East Europe, North and South Africa, the Caribbean and North and South America. Dance Workshops are a very important part of Dance Around The World and there are lots of them!  On Saturday evening there will be the  sizzling Latin/American evening in the upstairs hall while, at the same time downstairs, there will be a special Cajun dance arranged in conjunction with File Gumbo.  The band will be Colin and the Crawfish. On Sunday evening, the inspiring and energising international dance band Cloudburst will play for a pulse-raising Anglo- International ceilidh.

The details of the daytime programmes on Saturday and Sunday are now available to download aslisted at the bottom of this page.  If you are interested you can look at archived  programes from previous years as listed on the menu on the rigth hand side of this page.

More Music Workshops Than Ever Before

There will be music workshops on both days of the festival so, you could learn some new dance tunes and then  play live dance music for real live dancers!
