Dance Around the World will be back at Cecil Sharp House on 22-23 October 2016
For a taste of the 2010 event click here. The programme grows every year with lots of long-standing friends of the festival performing and teaching but lots of new faces (and feet) too!
For the 2016 event, expect a non-stop programme of performances in the spacious hall upstairs and 1-hour taster workshops in the two halls downstairs and in the dance marquee in the garden. On Saturday evening a spectacular latin event will be in the main hall. At the same time there will be a Cajun dance in another hall organized by Filé Gumbo. Watch this space for programme details as they develop. Find us on Facebook too and please like us. It helps spread the word.
Workshops, Performances And Social Dances
The non-stop programme of performances, workshops and social dances runs from 10.00am to 11.00pm on both days. The 2016 programme is not yet planned but we again expect about fifty performing groups representing cultures from regions as diverse as Algeria, South-East Europe, North and South Africa, the Caribbean and North and South America. Dance Workshops are a very important part of Dance Around The World and there are lots of them! The spectacular latin event will be in the main hall on Saturday evening. At the same time there will be a Cajun dance in another hall organized by Filé Gumbo.
